: Two medical aspirants and an elderly man were electrocuted in three different incidents reported from the city since Sunday.
While the medical aspirants were killed while operating coolers, the 62-year-old man was electrocuted when he stepped into a puddle in a market area.
The police have registered a case of causing death by negligence.
The elderly victim has been identified as Trilok, a resident of South-West Delhi’s Najafgarh.
The incident happened while he was walking to the local market around 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses said that it was raining heavily and there was heavy waterlogging.
He stepped into a water puddle next to a shop, and immediately collapsed. Along with Trilok, a dog standing in that puddle was killed.
A preliminary probe has indicated that there was short-circuit in an adjoining shop, causing the electricity to spread to the puddle.
By the time power supply to the area could be cut off, Trilok had died.
The BSES, which supplies power in the area, said their network was in order.
In the second incident, a 22-year-old woman from Manipur was electrocuted when she tried to switch on a cooler at her friend’s house in North Delhi’s Maurice Nagar.
Poor wiring of the cooler is suspected to have led to the electrocution.
The victim was preparing for medical entrance examinations
The third incident was reported in South-West Delhi’s Bindapur on Sunday night. Twenty-year-old Shahzad Ali, also a medical aspirant, was electrocuted while he was filling water in a cooler.
