Three persons, including a property dealer, have been arrested in the national capital after two kgs of heroin worth about Rs. two crore in the international market was allegedly seized from them.

Mohd Shahid Ali (40), the property dealer, Mohd Naushad and Naneh Khan (28) were arrested from Wazirabad on Sunday following a tip off, Additional Commissioner (Crime) Neeraj Thakur said on Monday.

The arrests came after the police received inputs that Ali was allegedly engaged in trafficking of heroin on a large scale.

“It was also learnt that he received drug consignments from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly in bulk for further supply to retailers in Delhi and Western UP,” Mr. Thakur said.

“To conceal his activities, Ali had put up a board ’Al-Haque Properties’ in his office in Wazirabad and was posing as a property dealer of the area. He was called ‘Haji’ and was considered a respected person,” Mr. Thakur said.

“Since he never sold or bought heroin at his residence, no one suspected his activities. His main supply was to his close sources or retailers in East Delhi and Western UP,” the police official said.

Mr Thakur said Ali allegedly used to procure heroin from Madhya Pradesh also. According to Mr. Thakur, Naushad used to procure crude heroin from Jharkhand and after purifying it supply the same to Ali.

Naushad was earlier doing farming in his village. Later, he came in contact with Ali through Siraj, a person of his village, and started supplying heroin to him.

Khan is the nephew of Naushad. He used to work as a helper to Naushad.
