‘This is a plan by BJP to dethrone AAP govt’

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday dismissed allegations by Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash that he was attacked by AAP MLAs at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, and said there was no proof that the official was manhandled.

Speaking to the media, Rajya Sabha MP and senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh said: “A number of false allegations have been levelled against us, but neither the police nor the Home Ministry is willing to hear our side of the story.”

He added that the entire proceeding in the case is like a witch-hunt against the AAP.

“The Chief Secretary says he was beaten by AAP MLAs. There is no proof that he was beaten but still the police filed an FIR against our MLAs and dragged them out as if they were criminals. Meanwhile, we have presented proof of a Minister and a vice-chairperson of the Delhi Dialogue Commission being beaten up at the Delhi Secretariat, and no action has been initiated,” he said.

The AAP said that the entire incident “seems to be a political vendetta by the BJP in the Centre to dethrone them from the government”.

“The BJP has been playing these dirty politics against us from a very long time. It is a known fact that they have not let our government work properly from day one,” Mr. Singh said, while reiterating that the allegations levelled by the Chief Secretary were “incorrect”.

“Are we implying that whatever the Chief Secretary says is a writing in the Gita and cannot be questioned?” he said.
