Thief arrested, ₹1.3 lakh recovered

A 25-year-old has been arrested in south-west Delhi’s Palam for theft complaint, the police said on Wednesday. They added that ₹1.31 lakh and $300 were recovered from his possession

Gagan Chawla was arrested on the basis of a complaint registered by a resident of Palam Village employed at a security firm in South Extension.

“According to the complainant, she returned home on November 20 to find it ransacked, and ₹5.25 lakh, $300 coins and jewellery items missing. One of the neighbours recalled seeing Mr. Chawla fiddling with the main gate of the property,” said a senior police officer.

He was arrested following a raid was at his residence in Bhagatpura in Sonipat.
