Cars, bikes, movie stars, cricketers, major announcements by leading companies and lots of entertainment has ensured that the ongoing Auto Expo in Greater Noida has been teeming with visitors since it opened to the public on February 5.

Sunday saw a footfall of over 1.3 lakh visitors and the organisers expect it to reach over seven lakh by the time it closes on February 9. The distance from the Capital to the expo mart did not seem to hold back the visitors, as the journey was a small price to pay for auto enthusiasts.

Siddharth Mahajan, a college student, said: “When you think of it, it is troubling that you are stuck in a traffic jam on your way to an event that is trying to sell you more cars. But once you step in, the show gets you adrenalin pumping, making you set goals to work harder so that you can afford such machines.”

From those who were visiting the show to check out new launches before booking a new car to those who were there just to look at the array of super-cars and bikes, there was something to please every visitor.

Rohan Patel, an engineering student from Bangalore, said he was visiting not just as a motor enthusiast but as a mechanical engineer as well to checkout the various hybrid concepts that he feels will be the future of motoring.

“I have not been disappointed with the innovation on offer. From fuel efficiency, alternate fuel to adopting a greener outlook, there are various innovations on display that I will be exploring in-depth.”

While many were busy clicking selfies with bikes and cars, a large number of visitors were also approaching the models standing next to the vehicles for photographs.

“I was amazed to see how poised the models were despite lakhs of people ogling at them and requesting for selfies, ” said Rima Bhatt.

Sonia, a student who works as a part-time model, said: “The stares I am used to, as I get them whenever I step out. When you are a model, you know that people are going to look at you.”

The Auto Expo 2016 is on till February 9 at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. There is a shuttle service every five minutes from the Botanical Garden metro station on the Blue Line.
