With the goal of energy conservation driving its design, which has been drawn up by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), a new office building of the Tourism Ministry is coming up here with Union Minister Mahesh Sharma laying the foundation stone on Sunday.
The ‘Paryatan Bhavan’ will feature a solar-power rooftop system, rainwater harvesting facility, recycling of water through sewage treatment plant and low water discharge fixtures. “This is a project of the Ministry of Tourism for construction of multi-level car parking-cum new office building and has been assigned to the NDMC for design and execution. Energy conservation measures are proposed to be adopted to optimise the overall design load,” NDMC chairperson Naresh Kumar said.
The Rs. 125-crore project for the construction of the complex is likely to be completed in 18 to 24 months. The project is spread over an area of nearly 23,000 sq.m.
“The basic design of building is targeted to achieve LEED India Platinum rating,” said spokesperson Jagjivan Bakshi.— PTI
