‘Tharoor to be questioned soon’

January 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - New Delhi:

Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Monday said that Congress MP Shashi Tharoor will be questioned in connection with the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar “in the next couple of days”.

On media reports that the evidence in the hotel room where Ms. Pushkar was found dead on January 17 last year was tampered with, Mr. Bassi said: “There is no basis to these allegations.”

The police chief did not rule out questioning Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar. 51-year-old Ms. Pushkar was found dead a day after her spat with Ms. Tarar on Twitter over her alleged affair with Mr. Tharoor.

Her viscera samples are yet to be sent to a foreign lab in the US or UK to determine the cause of death. “Once the procedures are complete it will be sent,” Bassi said.
