In recognition of his invaluable services to the construction and growth of Malai Mandir, a landmark in south Delhi, a newly built administrative block in the temple was dedicated in honour of late R. Venkataraman, whose birth centenary was observed on Saturday.
K. Ramamurthy, former Judge of the Delhi High Court, who unveiled a plaque to mark the dedication of the block in the name of Venkataraman, described the former President as a personification of simplicity and humility and said he led by example. An architect of the freedom struggle, Venkataraman had held important posts in the government and endeared himself to one and all with his love and affection and sincerity, he said. Justice M. Karpagavinayagam, Chairperson of the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, described Venkataraman as a legend who rose from a humble beginning and reached the pinnacle of glory. A multi faceted personality, he left an indelible mark in this world by his outstanding contributions in every field.
M.K. Venkatachalam, president of Sree Swaminatha Swami Seva Samaj, administering the temple, gave an account of the contributions of Venkataraman to the construction and growth of Malai Mandir.
