Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday said technical education is playing a vital role in social and economic development of the country and noted that no area can progress until it has enough educational institutes.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Annual National Business Convention of Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies at Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute Auditorium on the North Campus, the Chief Minister said the world today is more global than ever before and for the first time in human history, millions of people all over the world are literate in the same language.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that the theme of the event, ‘Containing Global Challenges’, would encompass various strategic issues like risk management, macroeconomics, and international trade and entrepreneurship, that require long-term vision and solutions.
College Principal Poonam Varma informed that Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies was one of the very few colleges in India which can take pride in awarding terminal degrees at the under-graduate level. With more than 13,000 aspirants vying for a little over 200 seats in the Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS) and Bachelor of Financial and Investment Analysis (BFIA) in 2009, the college is a very sought after one, she added.
