Teachers' appointment should be transparent, demands DUTA

November 17, 2011 11:05 am | Updated 11:05 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Delhi University Teachers Association have written to the university authorities demanding transparency in the permanent appointment of faculty.

“For every three vacancies there are about 1,000 applications for teaching posts in the Delhi University and to choose the best while upholding the university's status in the country there has to be a transparent process for appointing permanent staff,” said DUTA general secretary Janme Joy Khuntia on Wednesday.

Stating that there were still temporary professors, who have been teaching for almost eight years, Mr. Khuntia said: “We are demanding that the committee formed by the University for appointment of teachers should give preference to the temporary teaching staff rather than fresh appointments.”
