Delhi University teacher Prem Singh, who was on fast to protest against implementation of the four-year undergraduate programme, called off his hunger-strike at Rajpath here on Friday.

Mr. Singh had undertaken the fast on Monday and concluded it on Friday evening. He was supported by several members of the Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) to mark their opposition to the programme.

“All the members against the four-year course have issued an appeal to the authorities and have also resolved that all efforts would be made to oppose the hasty implementation of the highly debated four-year undergraduate programme in DU this year,” said DUTA vice-president Harish Khanna. A five-member committee has been set up by the University Grants Commission to track the progress of the programme and suggest corrective measures regarding it.
