It was a sweltering Sunday in the city with the maximum temperature touching 42 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal for this time of the year.

The weather station at Palam recorded the highest maximum temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius.

Early mornings were pleasant as the minimum was recorded at 22 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal.

According to the forecast by the weatherman for Tuesday, “partly cloudy sky with chances of dust storms and thunderstorms are likely in the evening.”

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 41 and 24 degrees Celsius.

However, the Meteorological Department has said there are chances of rain from Tuesday onwards, which will help bring down temperatures under the 40 degree Celsius mark.
