Just a few days ahead of the monsoon, the Delhi Tourism and the Delhi government’s first Summer Festival was inaugurated on Friday at Dilli Haat Janakpuri by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra and DTTDC MD & CEO Padmini Singla.

Mr. Sisodia said the festival not only provides visitors with numerous varieties of mangoes, but each and everything that one aspires to eat during summer. “This festival will also provide an opportunity to the farmers to sell their produce and promote economic activities within the event,” he added.

As part of the first-time Summer Festival, the 27-year-old annual mango festival has been given a makeover to increase the scale of celebrations. The festival will continue to have its large display of mangoes from different parts of the country in a space where growers can showcase various traditional and hybrid varieties.

Mr. Mishra said: “Summers are not just about the heat. There are many reasons to enjoy this season too. The event also boasts promising entertainment, from illusionists to stand up comics and live musical performances.”

From mangoes as small as a grape and as big as papaya, there will be over 500 varieties on display. The festival is on till June 26..
