Submit detailed report on Ghazipur fire: NGT

It also directed the State government and civic bodies to “work in-tandem”

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Commissioner of Police to submit a detailed report on the fire that broke out in Ghazipur landfill site in March.

‘Work in tandem’

The Bench, headed by NGT Acting Chairperson Jawad Rahim, had in an order dated April 23 directed the government and the civic bodies to “work in tandem”.

“We direct each of these entities to submit to the tribunal as to what is the nature of coordination and cooperation they seek from each other….why the tribunal should not take punitive action against all the officers of the municipal corporations and NCT Delhi for violation and not complying with the directions issued by the tribunal from time to time,” NGT said.

DDA’s show cause

Further while the civic bodies have been directed to file comprehensive action plans, the Delhi Development Authority has been issued a show cause notice for not allotting alternative sites.
