The polling day atmosphere in Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University was a picture of contrast.

A dead calm prevailed over Delhi University North Campus even as one lakh students went to the polls to vote for the new students' union in its 50 colleges across the Capital city.

In Delhi University, the voting began around 9 a.m. on Friday. For the central panel there are a total 28 candidates who are in the running for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary.

The voting is taking place at 40 centres in Delhi University. The 1,20,000 voters are voting through electronic voting machines.

At the Jawaharlal Nehru University, a Digital Voting System has been introduced this time for the visually impaired students. The atmosphere on the campus for the voting was electric and noisy; and the decibel levels remained high even during the lunch break.
