Four students of a government school sustained injuries in Ghazipur in New Delhi on Friday when they fell from a mini tempo on their way to school. The condition of one student is stated to be serious.
The injured have been identified as Aman, Himanshu, Vinod and Sunder. All four are aged between eight years and 12 years.
The four student and their friends, all residents of Khoda Colony in Ghaziabad, left for school in New Kondli around noon when a local, Sunny, offered to drive them there in his mini tempo. All of them boarded the tempo and were sitting on its rear end. When the tempo reached near a paper mill in Mayur Vihar Phase-III, it suddenly jumped after hitting a pothole.
“Four of the students sitting on the rear end of the mini tempo fell on the road and sustained injuries. They were taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where three of them were discharged a few hours later. Aman, who sustained head injuries, was later shifted to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital. His condition is said to be serious,” said a senior police officer.
The police suspect the tempo was being driven at a high speed, leading to the accident. No arrest has been made so far.
