A 16-year-old died while his friend sustained injuries when a speeding truck rammed their bike in Greater Noida’s Badalpur on Tuesday morning, the police said.

Board exam

The duo was on the way to write their board exam at the time of the incident. Anuj Singh was a resident of Chhaprola village, located near in Badalpur.

“The incident happened around 6.30 a.m. on Tuesday. Anuj was riding the bike, while Prince was the pillion passenger. They were on the way to the examination centre in Badalpur. The truck hit hit them at G.T. Road near Chhaprola village and fled,” said Mukesh Kumar, Station House Office, Badalpur police station.

The police reached the spot and took the boys to a hospital, where Anuj was declared dead on arrival. Aggrieved villagers blocked G.T. Road for an hour, demanding the driver’s arrest.

“The police have registered a case.... The truck driver will be nabbed soon,” Mr. Kumar said.
