A 12-year-old boy was injured after he was allegedly assaulted by a junior student in a private school at Sivagiri.

Police said an altercation broke out between a Class VI student and a Class VII student, both hailing from the same area, on Wednesday last.

They exchanged blows and the VII Standard student sustained injuries.

After the first aid was administered at Sivagiri, the victim was rushed to a private hospital in Madurai on Thursday. The condition of the injured student was said to be “stable”.

Sivagiri police, who are yet to register a case, have deployed police at vulnerable points as the students involved in the clash belonged to different communities. Police sources said a complaint was lodged by the victim’s father.

Case registered

A case was registered and the accused boy has been nabbed. A police officer said that the boy would be sent to the Juvenile Home here.
