Rules for protection of street vendors and for formation of town vending committees have been framed by the Delhi government and are likely to be notified soon, according to officials.

The notification of the Delhi Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Rules, 2017, was drafted on January 10 and will go into effect as soon as it is published in the gazette.

According to the draft, street vendors who are 14 years or more will be eligible for a vending certificate. The rules, which are framed under the national Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014, will also govern establishment of town vending committees.
