Letter highlights spurt in atrocities

A prominent pro-Modi Muslim group has appealed to the Prime Minister to act against the “open lynching of Muslims in the country”.

“Muslims across the country, particularly in north India, are being lynched on one pretext or the other. All this is sending a wrong message to Muslims and even other communities,” wrote Jaseem Mohammad, director of the Forum for Muslim Studies and Analysis (FMSA), in his letter to Mr. Modi.

‘Security concerns’

The letter further read that the Ballabgarh case had increased security concerns for Muslims. “Thousands of people are asking me questions about the spurt in lynching cases, but I am at a loss to reply them. My endeavour is to bridge the distance between you [Mr. Modi] and Muslims,” Mr. Mohammad, who has written seven books in the praise of the Prime Minister, further wrote.

‘Dangerous phase’

“Though the Ballabgarh incident concerns the Haryana government, people are asking as to why the Centre is not taking any action. I am afraid that we are entering a dangerous phase, which will indicate that the government has lost control,” he added.

Last year, Mr. Mohammad had constituted the Narendra Modi Scholarship for Muslim Students.
