The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Tuesday directed Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan to submit by December 4 a detailed action plan with regard to tackling air pollution.
A Bench asked the States to ensure that the plan includes steps to be followed in case of increase in pollution levels. “Steps for preventing and controlling air pollution should automatically come into play and not depend on the decision of government officers in any of the States,” it said.
