Sonia flags off Ambedkar ‘Shobha Yatra'

Several functions were organised in the Capital on Wednesday to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Congress president Sonia Gandhi flagged off a “Shobha Yatra” from her 10 Janpath residence in the morning. Many senior Congress leaders including Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, party treasurer Motilal Vora and Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president J. P. Agarwal were present. The programme was organised by AICC secretary Jai Kishan.

Ms. Dikshit also unveiled a statue of Dr. Ambedkar at Rohini in the evening. She distributed cheques to 50 people under the composite loan scheme, scholarships under the Shiksha Sahyog Yojana and certificates under the vocation training programme.

At a function organised by the DPCC at Rajiv Bhawan, tributes were paid to Dr. Ambedkar.
