Delhi University welcomed another batch of freshers on Thursday, most of whom looked around wide-eyed, anxious and excited to begin the journey that lies ahead.
Students relieved
Students were welcomed into colleges with orientation programmes organised to introduce them to college life.
After a gruelling few weeks spent completing admission formalities, most of the students seemed relieved to have finally made it to the university.
“Delhi University is one of the best in the country. It is a matter of pride for me to have finally made it here. Ever since the board results were announced, I was anxious about whether my score was enough to get through to a DU college. It was after the second list that I made it to Miranda House, which was my dream college,” said Akriti Goel.
Some others, meanwhile, were a little nervous.
“I am a little nervous as it is the first day, but I am equally excited. Let’s see how college life goes,” said Tripti, another student who arrived at North Campus early on Thursday morning to attend the orientation programme at Ramjas College.
Unions welcome freshers
Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), which constitutes the Delhi University Student’s Union (DUSU), also came out to welcome students.
“When we entered, there were a lot of volunteers waiting at the gate to welcome us. It felt nice as these little things matter and will help the freshers feel at home,” said a parent who had accompanied his daughter to Ramjas College.
Looking forward to a memorable journey at DU, Ananya Gulati said, “I still cannot believe that I am about to begin my college life. I am very happy to have made it to DU, especially a North Campus college. I am very excited and looking forward to participate in every college activity so that I can graduate with a bag full of memories at the end of three years.”
‘Overwhelmed’
The excitement was palpable on campus as the students went about figuring their way out.
“I am overwhelmed to have made it to a North Campus college. Even though I am very excited because it is the first day of college, there are moments when I feel a little lost with so many new faces around,” said Muskan Kher, who will pursue B.Com from Ramjas College.
