Six coaches of two premium trains — the Bhubaneshwar and Sealdah Rajdhanis — parked in the yard at New Delhi railway station were gutted in a fire on Tuesday.
Though several employees were on duty in the yard, nobody was injured in the incident that occurred when the coaches were parked on the washing lines.
As a precautionary measure, officials said, power supply to OHE lines was stopped that affected train operation from the city’s busiest station for a while.
While the cause of fire is still to be ascertained, Northern Railway General Manager has formed a committee of senior officials to probe the incident, Northern Railway spokesperson Neeraj Sharma said.
