Signalling cable of Delhi Metro stolen

September 08, 2009 12:25 pm | Updated 12:25 pm IST - New Delhi:

Unidentified persons stole the signalling cable of the Delhi Metro between two stations in East Delhi, leading to delay in services on the Dwarka line on Tuesday.

The robbers stole the signalling cable on one of the two lines between Indraprastha and Yamuna Banks stations on Monday night, which affected the services on the Dwarka line, a Metro spokesperson said.

As the signalling cables were lost, the spokesperson said that only one line is being used for travel between the two stations. “We cannot use both the lines. The line which has the signalling system intact is being used now,” the spokesperson said.

One can get a train within a gap of ten to 15 minutes on the line though the normal gap between two services on this line was three to five minutes, he said. The Delhi Metro has asked its officers to inquire into the incident and submit a report, he said.
