One of the accused who had allegedly opened fire in a street in north Delhi’s Burari on Monday morning targeting four persons has been identified, the police said on Tuesday.
A senior officer said the accused has been identified as Hemraj, who hailed from a village in Haryana’s Jhajjar. Hemraj was killed in the incident. He was initially identified as Sanjeet.
One case filed
The officer said Hemraj’s criminal record is being checked and so far one case under Section 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) has been found registered against him. “When his family was contacted, they told the police that he had left home in 2011 and never returned. They said they had disowned him,” the officer said.
Hemraj was allegedly among the men who came in an SUV on Monday and fired at four persons who had stepped out of a gym in Sant Nagar.
It is suspected that he was killed by a bullet from his gun during the shooting. Hemraj was later left near a hospital along with the vehicle.
