“Delhi would be able to achieve 95 per cent enrolment by February 2013”

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday suggested inclusion of Aadhaar numbers on university degrees and birth certificates while noting that Delhi would be able to achieve 95 per cent enrolment by February 2013.

Speaking at a day-long workshop on Aadhaar Enabled Direct Cash Transfer organised by Delhi e-Governance Society at Delhi Secretariat, the Chief Minister said her government would put all nine Centrally-sponsored schemes relevant for Delhi on Aadhaar Enabled Direct Cash Transfer Mode by April 2013.

She said at the time of the launch of this cash transfer scheme by the Centre on January 1, Delhi had implemented four out of the nine schemes on this mode in its two districts – North-West and North-East.

She said as the Aadhaar number was unique to an individual and remained valid for life, it was a revolutionary method to overcome bogus beneficiaries and duplication.

With Aadhaar number helping people in accessing services, she also suggested that these be included on university degrees and birth certificates and directed the departments to work in this direction.
