Sheila flayed for changing position in Afzal case

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijay Kumar Malhotra on Monday criticised Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for “frequently changing her position in the matter of death sentence of Afzal Guru” who had been convicted in the Parliament attack case.

In a statement, Prof. Malhotra said even after 16 reminders from the Union Home Ministry the Chief Minister held back the file. And when she finally released it, she declared that the delay was due to the nature of the opinion given on the case by the present Chief Secretary and his predecessor, he added.

“Now the cat is out of the bag and the Chief Minister has admitted that it was due to Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil that the file was held back.”

He added that the Government should now implement the court order. quickly
