Acknowledging the role of teachers in bringing laurels to the state, the Delhi Chief Minister, Shiela Dikshit, on Saturday promised all help to the teaching community in addressing their problems.
“We might have seen a downturn in our economy but we won’t allow it to come in the way when it comes to investing in the field of education. Education is one such avenue where we cannot afford to compromise,” Ms. Dikshit said at a ceremony where 70 teachers were felicitated with various awards for their contribution.
She also assured them that she would look into the daily hassles, especially faced by lady teachers, due to unplanned postings.
“A scientific way has to be followed while transferring the teachers. We have to chart out a policy in this regard so that the teachers do not face such problems,” she said.
Noting that the overall development of a child should be the main essence, Ms. Dikshit asked the teaching fraternity to see that their students grow up as “a good human being.”
“A child learns most during his formative years in the schools. It is the responsibility of the teachers to see that their wards grow into good human beings,” she added.
