Nearly 600 shanties were gutted in a major fire that broke out after a high-tension wire fell on them in Ghazipur here on Thursday. Two persons sustained injuries.
The Delhi Fire Service received a distress call about the fire around 2:45 p.m. In all 21 fire tenders were pressed into service and the blaze was brought under control by 5 p.m.
According to a BYPL release, a transmission line from Sahibabad to Ghazipur was affected in the afternoon as a conductor snapped, following which a high voltage line fell on the jhuggi settlement. “Teams have been rushed to the spot to help out with any electrical emergency and help the affected people,” said the release, adding that
