Admissions under Delhi University’s second cut-off list to merit-based undergraduate courses came to an end on Tuesday. Those who have not made it to a college of their choice will now have to wait till July 7 for the third cut-off list.

Less chaotic

The admission process under the second list was less chaotic than under the first list as the university website functioned relatively well.

However, several students who were trying to cancel their admission under the first list and take admission in the second list faced a few problems as cancellation of admission did not show up on their admissions dashboard on the website, leaving them scurrying from college to college.

The admission committees of various colleges were still in a huddle on Tuesday evening trying to calculate how many seats are still vacant and what the dip in cut-off would be in the third list.

Seats still available

However, as per the general trend seen on the last day, seats are still available in various colleges and there is likely be a dip in cut-offs.

According to Dr. Venkat Kumar, the admission convener of Sri Venkateswara College, at the end of the second list, a total of 555 admissions had taken place out of over 1,000 seats available at the college.

At Hans Raj College, arts and commerce admission convener Rajmohini Sagar said 333 seats of 562 in arts and commerce, and 388 admissions of a total number of 600 seats in science were filled.

At College of Vocational Studies, Principal Inderjeet Dagar stated that 483 students have been admitted in the college for various courses of the 740 seats available.

General category

According to Mr. Dagar, most of the courses would be closed in the next cut-off list for General and OBC category applicants.

“B.Com (Hons.) would be closed for General and OBC applicants and BSc Hons. and Computer Science are to be closed for General category as well,” said the Principal.

He added that “BA Vocational Studies have seven different sub courses which are only offered in CVS college and admissions would be closed for the general category applicants in BA vocational studies for Human Resource Management in the next cut-off list. A similarly approach would be followed in BA Vocational Studies in marketing and BA Vocational Studies in management and marketing of insurance. Also, BA Office Management is going to be closed in the third cut-off list.”

LSR admits 548

Suman Sharma, the Principal of Lady Shri Ram College, said 548 students have been admitted in the college so far.

“We will be releasing a third cut-off list and courses like English, journalism, political science and psychology are going to be open for the general category,” said Ms. Sharma.

At Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, 484 out of 1,179 seats had been filled. Principal Gyantosh Jha said that in the third list there will be a slight dip in cut-offs across courses.
