The Directorate of Education (DoE) has given autonomy to private unaided recognised schools of Delhi to form their own criteria for conducting entry-level admissions.

Abolished criteria

They will, however, have to stay clear of the 62 criteria abolished by the Delhi High Court in a 2016 order. For admission to pre-school (nursery), pre-primary (kindergarten) and Class l, the minimum age limit is three yeas, four years and five years respectively by March 31 of the year in which admission is being sought. There is no upper age limit.

Application forms

Schools will have to upload the criteria and their points module by December 26. The admission process will commence on December 27 with availability of application forms. The last date for submission of forms is January 17.

Schools will have to upload the points given to each applicant by February 8. The date for displaying the first list of selected candidates is February 15.

The DoE has allowed schools to charge ₹ 25 as admission registration fee and has instructed schools to be fair, reasonable, well-defined, equitable, non-discriminatory, unambiguous and transparent in their admission criteria.

A monitoring cell will also be set-up in each district under the chairmanship of the Deputy Director (District) to ensure that each schools uploads the criteria and their points on the online module available on the DoE’s website, www.edudel.nic.in.

It will also redress the grievance of parents, if any, against school regarding adopting unjustified criteria.
