A 14-year-old Class VIII student was raped allegedly by her neighbour at her house in Khajuri Khas here on Friday night.
According to police, the houses of the victim and the accused are adjacent and the accused jumped through the common wall between the terraces of both the houses and entered the girl’s room where she was sleeping.
“Other members of the family were also present but the accused managed to enter the girl’s room and raped her. He covered her mouth to prevent her cries of help from being heard outside the room. He further threatened her of dire consequences if she told anyone and fled,” said a police officer.
The victim, however, narrated her ordeal to her mother who lodged a complaint at the Khajuri Khas police station based on the complaint and the victim’s medical report a case of rape was registered and the accused was arrested later, said the police.

It is now high time that the Center amends the rape laws to provide for stiffer punishment to offenders.Also a second offense should attract twice the jail term.A three time offender should be incarcerated and the keys thrown away so that he can rot away in Prison.One cannot understand the government's laxity in this respect.Do they need another Delhi Bus Gang Rape type of incident to open their eyes?The Home Minister should get the lead out of his
seat and act immediately.
