March 14, 2011 01:35 am | Updated 01:35 am IST - New Delhi:

A 17-year-old school student was stabbed to death allegedly by a group of minor boys here following an argument over the money he lent one of them, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place at Srinivaspuri around 7 p.m. on Saturday when the victim, a Class X student, was going to his friend's place for ‘combined study', a senior police official said.

The victim was stabbed some 500 metres away from his house.

“A friend had called the student to his house for combined study. Initially, he was not keen to go but on his friend's insistence he left for his house. The victim's parents were not home,” the police official said.

On the way, the student was waylaid by a group of eight to 10 boys who started beating him up.

During the scuffle, one of them allegedly stabbed the student in the back and all of them fled the scene.

The police detained eight boys in connection with the case.
