Russian woman raped in south Delhi, 1 held

Incident allegedly took place on September 16 in accused’s house after he promised to marry her

A 32-year-old Russian woman was allegedly raped by a 23-year-old man in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on September 16. The accused was arrested 10 days later, the police said on Saturday.

The victim, in her complaint to the police, alleged that she became friends with accused Gaurav Arora a few months ago. She told the police that he promised to marry her, took her to his house and raped her. He then allegedly forced her out of his house.

Party at Hauz Khas

“She told the police that they had gone for a party at Hauz Khas, after which they went to his rented accommodation in Khirki Malviya Naga,r where he raped her. Arora then shouted at her and pushed her out of the house,” said a police officer.

The matter was reported to the police on September 16, after which an FIR was registered.

The woman’s medical examination was conducted and preliminary probe was conducted. Arora was arrested on September 26, the police said.
