A car belonging to the Russian Embassy rammed into police barricades and another vehicle, leaving a couple injured, at Africa Avenue in New Delhi area.

The incident took place around 12.30 am on Tuesday at a police picket. Initial probe suggests there were four persons occupying the embassy car. A case of rash driving and causing hurt has been registered at Chanakyapuri police station and investigations taken up.

The injured persons have been admitted to Dr. RML Hospital and their condition is said to be out of danger. The couple who were residents of Ghaziabad were headed home from Vasant Kunj in their Chevrolet Beat car when they were stopped at the picket for checking, the complainant said in his statement to police.

Even as the couple were showing their documents to the police, an allegedly speeding Russian Embassy car bearing number 75CD99 rammed into the barricades before hitting the stationed vehicle. It is yet to be ascertained if the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
