Rs. 5 lakh compensation for Jharkhand scribe’s family

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today announced a compensation of Rupees five lakh to the family of a news channel journalist who was killed by unidentified persons at Dewaria in Chatra district on May 12, official sources said.

Action-taken report

The chief minister has also sought an action-taken report from Director General of Police D K Pandey in connection with the killing of the 35-year-old journalist, Akhilesh Pratap Singh, they said.

Condemnation

Singh was shot dead by unknown persons near Dewaria panchayat secretariat on Thursday night, triggering widespread condemnation of the attacks on journalists across the country.

A bandh was observed in Chatra town on May 13 in protest against the killing. - PTI
