Rs. 4 lakh each for kin of NCC cadets

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the five students from Delhi who lost their lives in Kerala while attending the National Trekking Camp organised by the National Cadet Corps.

Ms. Dikshit, who met the families of some of the victims, describing the mishap as “most unfortunate”. One of the boys was a student of Senior Secondary Boys School, Kalkaji; one was studying at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College while the three others were students of Jamia. The Chief Minister was also present at the airport along with Union Defence Minister A.K. Antony and Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy when the bodies of the deceased were brought to Delhi.
