A day after four patients lost their lives at Sushruta Trauma Centre due to a malfunction in the oxygen supply system, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday announced Rs.2 lakh ex-gratia to the next of their kin.

The Chief Minister, who was away to Gujarat when the incident took place, also expressed her grief at the tragedy.

Meanwhile, Delhi Health Minister A.K. Walia said the enquiry committee, which was set up on Tuesday to probe the Sushruta Trauma Centre incident, will submit its report within three days.

“It will also fix responsibility for the incident and officials found guilty of misconduct and dereliction of duty would be punished.” Asked about his own culpability in the matter, the Minister said he was prepared to face any action if found guilty.
