The Delhi State organising committee of Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) on Monday staged a demonstration near the Chief Minister's Office here to protest against the steep hike in electricity charges announced by the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Representatives of residents' welfare associations also participated in the demonstration.

As protesters were stopped by the police from marching forward, a meeting was held. It was addressed by SUCI (C) MP Tarun Mandal, State committee members Pran Sharma and R. K. Sharma and others.
