The Gurugram Police have arrested eight people, including two women, who were allegedly planning to rob a house in DLF Phase-II here.

Eight arrested

The accused have been identified as Sunil, Satyanarayan, Ramkumar Thakur, Ramkalesh, Arvind, Mohammad Zahir, Madhuri and Manju. While all the six men belong to Madhubani in Bihar, the two women hail from Odisha.

Domestic help involved

Addressing a press conference, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sumit Kumar said that Manju, who worked as a domestic help at a house in DLF Phase-II, had hatched a conspiracy with her acquaintance Satyanarayan, the gang leader, to rob her employer’s house. As per the plan, she had sedated the family, but the police arrested the accused before they could see their plan through.

Weapons recovered

Satyanarayan has earlier been involved in around 10 theft cases in Delhi and a similar case at Sector 29 in Gurugram, said Mr. Kumar.

The police claim to have recovered two country-made pistols, as many cartridges, an iron bar, a sharp-edged weapon and a rope from them.
