Reward announced for arrest in Bhanwari case

The Central Bureau of Investigation has announced a reward of Rs.5 lakh for credible information leading to the arrest of Bishna Ram Bishnoi in the Bhanwari Devi disappearance case.

According to the agency, at least 42 criminal cases have been registered against Bishna Ram in Rajasthan.

The Director General of the Rajasthan Police and Inspector General of Police of Jodhpur has also announced a reward of Rs.25,000 and Rs. 4,000, respectively, on his head. Identity of the informer would be kept confidential.

“Information can be given on 0291-2513315, 09530346277, 011-24368641, 0291-2650803, 0291-2650702, 0291-2650888, 09414162700 or 09829055181,” said a CBI official.

In another development, sacked Rajasthan Minister Mahipal Maderna -- who has been arrested in the case -- was interrogated by the CBI in the Capital for his suspected role in Bhanwari Devi's abduction. “He was also taken to hospital for routine medical examination,” said the official.

Mr. Maderna was arrested this past Friday along with Parasram Bishnoi, brother of ruling Congress MLA from Luni, Malkhan Singh.
