The Delhi Police on Friday said that some among the recently-arrested alleged Indian Mujahideen operatives had conducted a reconnaissance of Delhi’s Red Fort and the iconic monument was on their ‘terror’ radar.

According to a senior Special Cell officer, members of the Rajasthan module had clicked photographs of the monument. The officer said that it was on the information forwarded by the Delhi Police that 10 other suspects were arrested from Jodhpur and Sikar in Rajasthan over the last two days. All of them are aged between 20 and 25.

“The hideouts and antecedents of these 10 were disclosed by the three IM suspects of Rajasthan module – Mohammad Mahruf, Mohammad Waqar Azhar and Shaquib Ansari – who were arrested by us,” said the officer.

“Interrogation of the three has already revealed that other tourist hotspots like Agra in Uttar Pradesh, and Jodhpur, Bharatpur and Gopalgarh in Rajasthan were also on their target and they had carried out a reconnaissance in these places.”
