Delhi Police on Tuesday registered a case of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation in connection with rape threats allegedly sent by ABVP members to Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur.

The case was registered on the basis of a complaint from the Delhi Commission for Women which had sent a letter on Monday demanding an immediate registration of FIR against those who had threatened Ms. Kaur (20).

An FIR has been registered by the Cyber Cell under relevant sections of the IT Act and IPC, a senior police officer said.

Further details are awaited.

In solidarity with the Ramjas students and to raise her voice against the violence at North Campus, MS. Kaur had last week changed her Facebook profile picture to one in which she was holding a placard reading, "I am a student from Delhi University. I am not afraid of ABVP. I am not alone. Every student of India is with me. #StudentsAgainstABVP."
