Angry over the rape of a seven-year-old girl inside a municipal school, locals went on the rampage at Mangolpuri here on Friday damaging buses and vandalising hospital property. A dozen people had been arrested on charges of rioting.
On Thursday, when the victim, a Class II student, went to collect her midday meal, she was taken to a vacant classroom on the first floor of the school and raped. The victim’s father alleged that the culprit tied his daughter’s hands and stuffed cloth into the mouth before raping her.
When the victim returned home in the afternoon, her parents noticed injuries. They took her to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, where doctors confirmed that she was raped. Subsequently, the police were alerted.
“We received information at 9.26 a.m. on Friday and a case was registered under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Representatives of a non-government organisation and the Rape Crisis Intervention Centre were involved in providing counselling to the victim according to the standard operating procedure,” said a senior police officer.
Even as the police were planning to question the school teachers and staff, angry residents started gathering outside the hospital. Rumours that the victim had succumbed to her injuries triggered violence. An angry group pelted stones at passing vehicles. The group then entered the hospital premises and targeted a canteen and the hospital staff quarters.
Policemen in riot gears resorted to lathi charge and fired tear-gas shells to disperse the protesters who blocked the road outside the hospital. “Anti-social elements smashed the windscreens and windowpanes of three DTC buses,” said the officer.
The mob also targeted police vehicles and a police post, injuring three personnel.
Additional forces were called in to control the protesters. However, just when normality was returning, locals in small groups reappeared in the evening and indulged in stone-throwing. They placed burning tyres on the middle of the road.
The police are questioning the school staff to identify the culprit.
Additional Commissioner (Education) Deepak Hastir said the North Delhi Municipal Corporation had extended all possible help to the police in the investigation. “If anyone from the school is found guilty, he would be dealt with strictly,” he added.
The Municipal Commissioner had appointed a four-member committee to inquire into the incident and submit a report.

Sir,
The cases of molestation and rapes are increasing on an alarming rate in
the nation's capital!
Why not abolish statehood of Delhi and make it a union territory and let
the centre take direct control of the affairs?
Such cases are out of box thinking. such vultures are in society. They could not even think they have crossed even animal level.
Another press report has mentioned that two teachers of the school
are involved and are being interrogated. If it transpires that the
teachers are involved, they should have the book thrown at them and be punished with the maximum sentence permissible under law.No mercy should be shown to persons who betray the trust placed on them by the parents of the children.
We are just unable to believe that such a thing could happen. What
pleasure did the rapist get by raping a small girl? It is shameful to
read of late that father, brothers, uncles are raping young girls.Whom to
trust?
A day will come when a mother will start mistrusting her own husband or
son,if she has to leave her daughter with them .
God save the human mankid.
there is nothing worst then this....& plz try to find out solution don't say that it is due
to lack of security.....try to figure out why are doing this....bcz you cant do anything
after the act is done.....plz do something.
shame on Ms.Dixit despite being the cm of Delhi it is never your Gov's fault. Try the blame
game instead of offering protection to the kids and women
Separate schools for boys and girls iz the solution to stop these types of incidence inside the school premises
Shame !! Shame!!
People need to be educated in this area. its said that " Knowledge is Power".
Our country is moving towards Development in all aspects. but where is the Wisdom .
People are Educated however, have forgotten the moral value of HUMANISM - respecting "WOMEN".
rape incidents and sexual abuse cases against the minors are increased day by day.Governments and authorities should take appropriate actions against the offenders.it is shameful to punish protesters in place of offenders.the step to make rape punishment stronger is also pending which shows sleeping mode of government therefore patience of citizens is losing.society should always aware for rights of deprived class.
The situation has become Worse,Women symbolises the Bharata Matha, what we have learned from childhood? All Indians are my brothers and sisters,This should not be in words but in duty,It's not the judiciary to control over that,It's the democratic country which in essence people's rule,So every one should respond to the the bad and later it is control over the govt.
This continues to happen because the perpetrators have complete
confidence that they can get away with it. If we had hanged the 6 guilty
in the gang rape by now, these perverts will be shaking with fear. Death
penalty is the answer, not only will it deter others, it will also
ensure that these animals dont get out and rape again. They ruin the
entire life of their victims (how will this child ever fully recover
from this?), so they deserve to get their life taken away.

You can see whatever government doing is not working and failed to bring any change. Well the govt is doing more harm and creating a divided nation.
We need to make our insitution more effective and accountable for the welfare of society(Men/Women/AnyOther) . It is started by Ms India G@ndhi and since then all the insitutions have been completely ruined.
The sucessive govt has failed the nation and now almsot all the insitutions just work for the welfare of ministers/rich/powerful individuals.
The public in general is harassed and feeling exteremly disappointed from all the insitutions and nation is feeling like living in a dictatorship and anarchy.
