Rain ruins rallies

Weather played a spoilsport during the election campaigning on Thursday, with the rain forcing the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Aam Aadmi Party to cancel some of their rallies and jan sabhas.

BJP chief ministerial candidiate Kiran Bedi’s rally at Yamuna Vihar was cancelled, as were the two rallies by AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal that were were to be held in Kirari and Mangolpuri.

Two meeting of BJP national president Amit Shah with booth-level workers were clubbed into one and held at the Yamuna Sports Complex.

According to the Meteorological Department, it was the coldest January 22 in the past five years.
