Rain forecast today in Capital, cold days ahead

Under an active Western Disturbance over north-western India with peak activity on December 11 and December 12, minimum temperatures in the Capital fell to 7.4 degrees Celsius and rain has been forecast over the city.

Cyclonic circulation

The Meteorological department has said that the western disturbance in association with an induced cyclonic circulation over west Rajasthan and neighbouring areas will bring light to moderate rain / thundershowers over Delhi and the National Capital Region during December 11 evening and December 12.

The MeT department has also forecast that minimum temperatures are very likely to fall significantly from December 13 onwards over north India. Cold days and cold wave condition are likely to prevail due to the active weather system, the department said.

The maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 27.2 degrees Celsius with humidity hovering between 94% and 33%.

AQI in Capital

After the Air Quality Index for the Capital recorded “moderate” and “poor” air for a few days, the AQI score for the city on Sunday was 377, which was in the “very poor” category according to data provided by the Central Pollution Control Board. The air quality in Noida and Ghaziabad was in the “severe” category with an AQI score of 415 and 448 respectively. Gurugram was also in the “severe” category with an AQI score of 332.
