Delhiites got a break from the oppressive heat on Saturday when heavy showers lashed the city. Rain brought relief to the city that had been witnessing a dry spell.

Safdarjung recorded 28.6mm of rainfall and Palam saw 43mm till 8.30 p.m. on Saturday.

The maximum and minimum temperatures fell by a few notches, and the Met Department has forecast more rain over the next few days.

The sudden showers, however, hit traffic and caused water-logging in several areas including the NDMC’s VIP areas.

Arterial roads at Dhaula Kuan, ITO, and India Gate were flooded, causing a traffic slowdown.

The heavy downpour in the afternoon forced commuters to stop by the roadside at several places.
