Rain lashed the Capital on Wednesday, bringing much-needed respite from the hot and humid conditions. According to the Meteorological Department, the conditions are favourable for the monsoon to make its way to the city in the next 28 to 48 hours.
The Safdarjung observatory recorded 15.6 mm of rain till 5.30 p.m. on Wednesday, while areas under Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar recorded 5.8 mm, 16 mm, 1.2 mm and 0.7 mm rainfall respectively. The maximum temperature was 35 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season’s average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 28 degrees, normal for this time of the year. The humidity level oscillated between 100% and 65%.
Forecast for more rain
The weatherman has forecast rain and thunder in some parts on Thursday. Meanwhile, a few hours of rain in the evening led to waterlogged roads around ITO, Greater Kailash, RML Hospital, Mother Teresa Crescent, Tilak Marg and Delhi Cantt. Flooded roads also resulted in late night jams around Ring Road and Outer Ring Road.
