Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday distributed National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET) accreditation certificates to the Principals of five Navyug Schools of the New Delhi Municipal Council.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Dikshit said accreditation of schools was long desired and the initiative of the Quality Council of India (QCI), of which NABET is an arm, would help bring uniformity in delivery of education.
The Chief Minister said with this achievement other schools would also feel motivated and strive hard to get accreditation. She said her government had taken a number of initiatives in the field of education that have resulted in remarkable improvement in the pass percentage of government schools.
Ms. Dikshit expressed confidence that the remaining six Navyug Schools of the NDMC would also soon achieve NABET accreditation which is granted only after a school comes good on 50 laid parameters.
Navyug Schools were established to provide quality education to weaker sections of society.
The five Navyug schools that have been granted accreditation by QCI are Navyug School Sarojini Nagar, Navyug School Laxmi Bai Nagar, Navyug School Peshwa Road, Navyug School Moti Bagh and Navyug School Lodhi Road.
